My obsession with angling started well over 30 years ago, when my uncle introduced me to a spot of fishing on a little local stream in Cirencester, Gloucestershire.

I remember going off tackled up with a short rod, a Woolworths reel, a tobacco tin full with a few bits & bobs, a couple of sandwiches to share and a hot thermos flask. I'll never forget the smell of the hot steaming coffee being poured out into the plastic cup, as we stood there looking at the water from a weather beaten stone bridge.

The anticipation of casting my little float into the flowing stream was so great, I used to think I was going to explode with excitement from not knowing the unknown.

After several unsuccessful outings my hunger developed and I wouldn't give up until we had landed our first fish. The obsession had already started........
